It’s Occupy Wall Street’s 15th Anniversary! We’ll Celebrate Universally on September 17, and Get To Work Locally from That Point Forward!
Occupiers, friends and fans will celebrate our many achievements this coming Thursday – What we call “S17.” While some believe we somehow “failed,” it’s because the press neglected to share stories of how the movement influenced and fostered RIP Medical Debt (now Undue Medical Debt) and the Debt Strike/Rolling Jubilee (now the Debt Collective), both of which are flourishing.
Undue Medical Debt and the Debt Collective have canceled a total of $49.6 billion dollars in medical debt for 31.6 million people, and $200 billion in loan debt for several million students. That is something to celebrate!
The Work Begins Anew: Facing Climate Collapse, AI, and ICE Head-On in Our Local Communities
While Undue Medical Debt and the Debt Collective continue to work assiduously on their projects, Occupy2026 intends to sow new seeds and address current collective grievances that threaten all of humanity. This is to enable local communities to confront and end technocapitalist threats against our environment and our very lives.
We are facing climate collapse globally, the dangers of AI on a global scale, and ICE in the U.S. terrorizing, kidnapping, and placing people in concentration camps. Fighting these threats begins by partnering with activists already in our local communities.
Occupy2026 does not have demands; we have plans. Steering the planet away from total climate collapse, confronting AI plans that might well turn us into automatons, and ending ICE programs that are terrorizing and killing our neighbors are on that list.
To be clear: these are not our only plans; Occupy is a polyphony of voices and intentions, aimed at harmonizing a conscious collective which will act together and interdependently. Long live Occupy. Long live Community.
