“The Unintended Activist” – A Song for Activists and Changemakers

Last Updated: September 1, 2026By

Musicians are famous in times of uncertainty and unrest throughout America’s history. With permission or open for free use, we intend to post these pieces here at the Occupy 2026 site.

We’re starting with a song called “The Unintended Activist,” which we feel fits the times and the audience.

Here are the lyrics:

“The Unintended Activist”

No one wakes up choosing the fight,
Sometimes you simply walk to the light.
A question of conscience, one small care.
Then someone’s burden meets you there.
or Use what you have,
Do what you can.
One act of courage,
Will make that stand.

Leave the safe seats,
Step onto the field ,
Stand for the truth,
Refuse to yield…
Bring what you know,
Bring what you do,
The unintended activist…
Just might be you .
The unintended activist…
Might be you.

A willing heart sees a mountain of pain,
And turns that hurt,
Into intentional change.

Not louder voices,
But purpose made clear.
Not anger alone,
Gets people to hear.

Leave the safe seats,
Step onto the field.
Stand for the truth,
Refuse to yield.
Bring what you know,
Bring what you do.
The unintended activist…
Might be you
(Might be you)

Every hero starts unsure,
Crossing from safe to sure.
No perfect answer,
No fearless heart.
Just one brave step,
From the heart.

Leave the safe seats,
Step onto the field.
Help the broken,
Help them heal.
America needs,
The strong and true.
The unintended activist,
Is waiting in you
It really is you

Use what you have,
Do what you can.
Step from the crowd…
And take your stand.

We Want to Hear From You!
